Türkiye’deki ilk tamamen Internet tabanlı işletme yüksek lisansı eMBA‘nın altyapısını 8 senedir başarı ile yürüten ve geliştiren ekibimiz bir süredir Bilgi Üniversitesinin lisans seviyesinde ders destek sistemi olarak denediği Blackboard Online Learning System ile de uğraşmakta. Java tabanlı Building Block teknolojisi ile genişletilebilen Blackboard’a bir Türkçe yazım denetimi ‘building block’u eklemeye ve bunu da açık kodlu Zemberek sistemini kullanarak yapmaya karar verdik. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları Mayıs ayında İngiltere’nin Manchester kentinde düzenlenecek olan BbWorld Europe ‘08 etkinliğinde ekip üyelerinden Ferhat Can tarafından sunulacak. 15 Mayıs 2008 Çarşamba sabahı gerçekleştirilecek olan sunumun özeti aşağıdaki gibidir:

Turkish language, unlike English or German, presents unique challenges for natural language processing. We are going to share our experiences in developing a building block that enables Turkish spell checking and show how that block also enable users gather statistical data regarding content items. The target audience of this session will be mainly Blackboard developers and system administrators but Blackboard instructors are also welcome to learn the capabilities of the system.
